Parvati valley riverside town & pilgrimage hot springs · 1,640 m
Kasol sits on the Parvati river about 75 km from Manali, and Manikaran is 4 km further up the same road. It is the standard day trip out of the Manali circuit, and the one that feels least like the rest of it.
Manikaran Sahib is the reason to make the drive. The gurudwara is built directly over hot springs that emerge boiling from the ground; langar rice is cooked in that water, and there are covered bathing tanks inside the complex. It is a working pilgrimage site for both Sikhs and Hindus, not a viewpoint.
Kasol itself is a strip of cafes and guesthouses along the river, long established as the Parvati valley's base. From here, short walks lead to Chalal across the river, and longer treks go up to Kheerganga and Tosh. On a one-day trip from Manali, expect the drive to take most of your energy.
Kasol & Manikaran sits at 1,640 m. Shaded months below are when it reliably holds snow.
